A Word from Our CEO (November 2026)

November 2026 – A Message  from our CEO, Scot Laney

Heading Into The Holidays

As November ushers in the holidays and a season of gratitude, we are especially thankful for the volunteers, visitors, members, and Supporters who make your Museum’s work possible.

We hope you’ll join us for new ways to celebrate, beginning with the Candlelight Concert on November 28. Enjoy ’80s rock anthems beneath the tail of the enchanting H-4 Hercules, the “Spruce Goose,” while supporting our Innovation Fund. Tickets are available on our website. Special thanks to Dr. Conrad Schmitt, Dr. Steven Brenneke and Marge Brenneke, PepsiCo, and the Museum’s Board of Directors for helping make this special evening possible.

December brings an expanded holiday light festival featuring a new drive-through display, more Goose Lights inside, and skating on Oregon’s largest synthetic ice rink.

Then ring in 2027 at our New Year’s Eve gala—a 1920s Chicago–themed evening with casino-style games, delicious desserts and drinks, and live music by Mojo Holler. Ticket sales, a paddle raise, and a small, curated live auction will benefit the Innovation Fund, supporting the heart of our mission: education, exhibits, archives, and restoration.

Even as we look ahead to these gatherings, our hearts are with our aviation neighbors following the tragic loss of life on October 29. We know that accidents and loss are part of the aerospace story your Museum tells but sometimes those losses hit close to home. Jerry Trimble Helicopters and Precision are longtime, steadfast friends of the Museum, and we are deeply saddened by the losses both organizations have suffered.

Aviation is like a family and I’m sure that this has been an almost intolerable sadness for the staff and co-workers of our friends across the street, not to mention for the loved ones left behind. There are no words to adequately express our condolences to them.

Sincerely,
Scot Laney, CEO
